KGP Partners with Meta to Launch “Pay QR with Credit Card” Feature on Messenger for the First Time via K PLUS, Enabling Confident Sales Closures Without Fake Slips

Kasikorn Global Payment Co., Ltd. (KGP), in collaboration with Meta, has launched a new payment feature that allows customers to tap “Pay QR with Credit Card” on Messenger. The service is being piloted first through the K PLUS app, marking a first-of-its-kind rollout. This innovation is set to transform online buying and selling by enhancing the Social Commerce experience, enabling merchants to close sales more seamlessly, conveniently, quickly, and securely.

Ms. Sirirat Thiengtham, Managing Director of Kasikorn Global Payment Co., Ltd. (KGP), stated that Thailand is one of the fastest-growing Social Commerce markets in the world. According to Statista, shoppers purchasing through social channels account for as much as 94% of all online shoppers, ranking Thailand second globally. The number of users is expected to increase by more than 1.56 million by 2029, while market value is projected to grow by over THB 22 billion between 2024 and 2029. Among Meta’s social media platforms, Facebook continues to rank number one in Thailand, with a user reach of 90.7%. However, while convenience remains a key factor in consumers’ purchasing decisions on social media, 15% of consumers still have concerns about the reliability of the payment process. In response, KGP has developed the Transfer with Your Bank App service on Messenger to make it easier for merchants to receive online payments. Merchants simply need to have a Facebook Page to accept payments directly into their bank accounts. Customers can choose from three payment methods: bank account transfer, PromptPay, and QR Code.

KGP and Meta have therefore jointly developed the “Pay QR with Credit Card” feature on Messenger to deliver a more complete payment experience. The service is initially being piloted through the K PLUS app, which has more than 24.2 million users, with plans to expand the partnership to other leading banks in the future to broaden customer access. This collaboration helps raise security standards and build consumer confidence in online shopping by connecting an internationally standardized payment system with banking applications trusted by Thai users. It also reduces payment complexity, as customers no longer need to save and upload a QR Code image for manual scanning. Once payment is completed, the system automatically sends payment confirmation back into the chat, reducing the risk of fake slips. To further enhance confidence, the system is integrated with suspicious account verification provided by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) as an additional layer of fraud prevention. This reflects the shared vision of both organizations to strengthen digital payment infrastructure and support the long-term, transparent, stable, and sustainable growth of Thailand’s Social Commerce ecosystem.

Key Highlights of the “Pay QR with Credit Card” Feature on Messenger

- Easy to Use
Merchants send a QR Code in the chat, and the system automatically generates a payment button that links directly to the customer’s banking app.

- Convenient Sales Management
The system automatically sends proof of payment into the chat after a successful transfer, reducing the risk of fake slips and making it easier for merchants to verify payments.

- Cost-Effective for Merchants
Merchants do not incur any fee for the transfer data service. The only fee involved is the card fee payable to the bank or payment service provider (MDR) for QR payments bearing the VISA, Mastercard, and JCB logos.

Merchants Can Get Started in 5 Simple Steps
1. Merchant sends a QR Code in the chat; the system automatically generates the “Transfer with K PLUS” button.
2. Customer taps the “Transfer with K PLUS” button in the chat, which redirects to the K PLUS app.
3. Customer selects payment via KBank Credit Card.
4. Customer reviews the payment amount and merchant name before confirming.
5. Once the payment is completed, the customer taps “Return to Messenger” and the system automatically sends a confirmation slip to the merchant in the chat.
